Food and Environmental Sensitivity Assessment.

This test is able to identify sensitivity to a broad range of foods and environmental compounds and is our most popular test.

Vitamin and Mineral Assessment.

This test reports on deficiencies or excesses of nutrients and is great for those on restricted diets, chronic medication or for those who are just interested in their current nutrient status.

These days it can be a real struggle to maintain a good balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. When you’re not feeling right it can sometimes be hard to find the underlying reasons. Allergenics tests help to unlock that picture for you,

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis - Essential Tool For Better Health

Toxic mineral levels in the environment are rising and nutritional deficiencies are widespread due to the typical western diet. Therefore, assessing an individual's mineral imbalances and toxic mineral excesses is an increasingly important tool to understand many wellness issues. To address this need, MediScan offers Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). HTMA can provide important insights into nutritional approaches, supplementation requirements and can help predict time periods for nutritional supplementation.

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) offers a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a patient’s overall health with over 70 markers. It provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders often excrete several abnormal organic acids in their urine. The cause of these high levels could include oral antibiotic use, high sugar diets, immune deficiencies, acquired infections, as well as genetic factors.

Great Plains’ Organic Acids Test also includes markers for vitamin and mineral levels, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter levels, and is the only OAT to include markers for oxalates, which are highly correlated with many chronic illnesses.

If abnormalities are detected using the OAT, treatments can include supplements, such as vitamins and antioxidants, or dietary modification. Upon treatment, patients and practitioners have reported significant improvement such as decreased fatigue, regular bowel function, increased energy and alertness, increased concentration, improved verbal skills, less hyperactivity, and decreased abdominal pain. The OAT is strongly recommended as the initial screening test.

The OAT Assists in Evaluating:

Krebs Cycle Abnormalities
Neurotransmitter Levels
Nutritional Deficiencies
Antioxidant Deficiencies
Yeast and Clostridia Overgrowth
Fatty Acid Metabolism
Oxalate Levels
And More

FxMed are proud to exclusively partner with (owned by Sharon Erdrich). are the only specialist SIBO testing service in NZ and the only lab to offer the convenience of an at home test kit. The SIBO breath test is now also available through us making it easier for you to access.

The SIBO test is a simple, non-invasive breath test that is used to diagnose SIBO. Knowing the type and level of gases produced aids targeted treatment and forms a base line for follow up comparison.

How does the SIBO test work?

  • A restricted diet is required for 24 hours in preparation.

  • Following a collection of a baseline breath sample, either a lactulose (or glucose) test substrate is consumed.

  • The bacteria may ferment the lingering substrate and produce hydrogen and/or methane. These gases are absorbed into the bloodstream and exhaled through the breath.

  • Breath samples are collected every 15-20 minutes (depending on the substrate used) for up to 3 hours and analysed for the amount of Hydrogen, Methane and CO2 produced.

  • This test can be done at home and samples sent to for analysis.

Common symptoms of SIBO

  • Postprandial bloating/abdominal distension with associated discomfort

  • Gas and belching

  • Food Intolerances

  • Constipation (generally associated with methanogenic bacteria)

  • Diarrhoea (generally associated with hydrogenic bacteria)

  • Immune activation (e.g. food sensitivities)

  • Nutrient deficiencies i.e. vitamin B12 & Iron

  • Weight loss / weight gain

  • Fatigue or brain fog

  • Fibromyalgia

Nutrisearch ALCAT Identify food and chemical sensitivities with the Alcat Test

The Alcat Test identifies adverse immune cell reactions associated with food and chemical sensitivity. It is an accurate method to evaluate the immune system’s reactions to foods following an ex vivo challenge of the white blood cells.

The results from the Alcat Test can help determine which foods and other substances may trigger unwanted inflammation and related symptoms. The Alcat Test enables providers to help patients improve chronic health issues through dietary change.
